Roy Baylis

Chair of Trustees

Background: After graduating, Roy worked in the world of corporate finance for two years; just enough time to prove this was not the career for him! He quickly shifted to education and worked in inner-city Birmingham before moving into school leadership, eventually becoming Headteacher at Kings Norton Boys’ School. After six years, the opportunity arose for him to lead a new Christian academy in Solihull, eventually taking a leadership role across the group of academies. During his time as headteacher, Roy qualified as a mentor for new Headteachers and Principals and was invited to become a member of an advisory body helping develop national education initiatives. He was involved in cross-sector leadership mentoring involving business, commerce and the public sector.

Now retired from education, Roy is involved at trustee level with a variety of Christian organisations, is still active in leadership mentoring and coaching, and continues to coach basketball in the West Midlands League.
